Gwen Raiden | The Beast | Wo Pang | Knox
Gwen Raiden

Gwen Raiden is a self-named freak. From an early age, a strong electronic current has run through her body, affecting everything and everyone she touches. She was educated at a private academy for 'special' children like herself and grows up to be a beautiful and excellent thief. She runs into Angel and crew whilst on a job to steal an artifact, the Axis of Pythia, worth $33 million. While the Axis is only worth dollars to Gwen, to Angel it is the only thing that will help him find Cordelia. Although Gwen manages to steel the Axis first (killing and reviving Gunn in the process), she is double-crossed by her client and Angel helps her out, in return she loans him the Axis.

Taking her $33 million, Gwen turns an old run down apartment in a bad area of L.A. into a place fit for a freak. She is still unabel to resist the temptations of a life of crime but turns again to Angel when one of her clients is killed by The Beast right in front of her eyes. Discovering a pattern to The Beast's recent spate of killings, Angel Investigations discover that he is after five totems which he needs to collect to perform a ritual that will block out the sun. Gwen helps Angel fiond and rescue the fifth and only surviving totem and hides him in her fortress like apartment. But with a little help from Cordelia, The Beast still mamages to break in and steal the final piece to his puzzle.

Gwen turns to Angel Investigations one more time, but this time it's Gunn that she needs. She lures into helping her steal LISA, a Localized Ionic Sensory Activator. This device regulates body heat, heartbeat and body chemistry, enabling Gwen to touch another human without harming then for the first time. She tests it out on Gunn

The Beast

The Beast is a huge, hoofed demon made out of molten rock. In 1789 The Beast was in Prussia and being hunted by the Svea of Priestesses who can only be stopped by a vampire. With this in mind he lures Angelus to him by way of a massacre and offers him a pact, but Angelus declines and The Priestesses banish The Beast, but not before he has taken some of his anger out on Angelus.

In the present day, The Beast is resurrected by Cordelia, who has been taken over by a higher being, his mission; to collect five totems and use them to perform a ritual to block out the sun. In doing this he destroys Wolfram and Hart who are harbouring one of the totems. Despite Angel Investigations' efforts to stop him, The beast performs the ritual and the sun is gone. It being the only way to defeat The Beast and bring back the sun, Angel Investigations decided to bring back Angelus, of course he escapes but he does figure out a way to kill The Beast using a knife made from it's own bones.
