Daniel Holtz

Back in the 18th century Daniel Holtz was a vampire hunter with a lust to rid the world of the scourge of Europe, Angelus and his consort, Darla. He spent years searching for them; forever just on their tail until in 1764 he finally thinks he has caught up with them in his home town on Yorl. Little does he know, while he is out hunting with his men, he prey were at his home feeding on his family. He retruns home to find his wife and baby son dead and his daughter worse. With sorrow in his heart he grabs her and throws her into the sunlight where she burns and turns to dust.

The following years he spends looking for vengeance; in 1967 Holtz follows Angelus and Darla to Marsailles, France, he tracks them down but they slip his grasp once again, even though Angelus takes a few arrows in the process. Eventually in 1991, Holtz finally manages to capture Angelus in Rome, but fails to kill him, rather torturing him for some days, giving Darla the chance to rescue him.

Finally in 1773, bitter defeated and beate by sorrow, Holtz returns to his home in York, England. Here he is visited by the demon Sahjhan who tells him that he will have his revenge on Angelus but not in this time. He offers Holtz the chance to return when the time is right and take his revenge.

At the start of the 21st centrury, the time has come for Holtz to take his revenge and Sahjhan awakens him. At first conused with 21st century times, Holtz quickly catches up and Sahjhan soon finds that Holtz will not submit to orders, while Holtz learns that his demon friend has omitted a few vital details; Angel having a soul and Darla being pregnant. He points out that, although this will make no difference to his wanting revenge, it will make a differnce to how he carries it out.

Holtz starts to gather his own crew of vampire hunters, people with a thirst for vengeance who have lost loved ones. Justine, a girl who lost her twin to a vampire, is his first recruit and his right hand man. Together they hatch a plan, and Justine, on the pretence of coming to Wesley for help, slits his throat and steals Angel's son, Connor, taking him to Holtz.

Holtz names the son he never got the chance to have, Stephen Franklin Thomas and makes plans to take him to a ranch in Utah, however, his plans are foiled when Wolfram and Hart, Sahjhan and Angel turn up, all with their own interest in the child.

When Sahjhan opens a portal to another dimension, Quor'toth, Holtz sees his chance and, taking the baby, jumps through the portal. In Quor'toth, Holtz raises Connor as his own, teaching him to hate his real father, Angel, training him to be a hunter, but despite his efforts he comes to love the boy like a son. Sevetenne years pass in Quor'toth where only a matter of weeks have gone by on earth and Connor finds a way back to earth, closely followed by Holtz.

As Connor tries to deal with the fact that Angel, though a vampire, may also be a good man, Holtz sees the two becoming closer. In his final act of revenge he calls on his old friend Justine. She reluctantly does what he asks and kills him with an ice pick, making it look like a vampire attack and leaving Connor to believe that Angel has murdered him.

Skip

Skip is a demon of a devious kind. Whilst working for a higher being that has meticulous plans to take over the world, he poses as a demon working on the side of good.

As part of this role he becomes the gaoler of Billy, the son of one of Wolfram and Hart's clients, who has been sentenced to live in a cage of fire. Wanting to serve their client well, Wolfram and Hart coerce Angel into rescuing Billy. Skip gives up the fight surprisingly easily for a large, heavily armoured demon.

When Cordelia's visions leave her in a coma and her astrally-projected self watches Team Angel try to bring her back to life, Skip arrives as her demon guide. Taking her to a Matrix-like construct of a mall, he shows her what her life would have been like, if, instead of meeting Angel that fateful day in L.A., she had instead met a powerful talent agent. Telling her that humans were never meant to receive the visions and that they will eventually kill her, he offers her the chance to take that eternal life.

Accepting his offer, Cordelia soon finds that there is something missing from her life and Skip appears again to offer her the choice he wanted her to accept all along. She can go back to her old life and keep the visions in a pain-free way by becoming part-demon. She accepts.

Skip then further interupts Cordy's life just as she is about to meet Angel and declare her undying love for him. Appearing to her in the middle of the freeway, he stops time to inform her that she has become a higher being and must ascend to a higher plane.

His true colours finally come to light when Angel comes searching for some answers. After some not-so-gentle persuasion, Skip informs all that everything that has happened to them over the last several years has been leading to this moment, not only Cordelia receiving the visions and becoming a higher being, but Fred being sent to Pylea, Lorne leaving Pylea and even Connor being born. All these things have been engineered in order that Cordelia could give birth to the higher being that is now growing inside her and controlling her.

Skip finally meets a sticky end at Wesley's hands when he tries to take out the whole of Team Angel, starting with Fred.

Sahjhan

Sahjhan belongs to a race of demons who were once violent bringers of chaos and death, so much so that they even scared the Senior Partners at Wolfram and Hart who made them incorporeal. In the incoporeal state they cannot be killed but can be captured in a special urn.

Amongst his other abilities, Sahjhan can time travel. On one of his travels he learns of a prophecy which states, "The one sire by the vampire with a soul shall grow to manhood and kill Sahjhan". Clearly not happy about this he hatches a plan to prevent he prophecy from coming to pass.

As events have already come to pass and the demons with a soul has sired an, as yet unborn, child, Sahjhan must work fast. Returning to the 18th century, Sahjhan approaches an old enemy of Angel's who has a thirst for revenge, the vampire hunter, Holtz and offers him the chance to kill Angel and Darla in the furture. But Holtz does not kill Darla before the child is born. Sahjhan once more travels and re-writes the prophecy to state, "the father will kill the son" and ensures that the prophecy falls into Wesley's hands. Just to put the icing on the cake, he seeks help from Lilah at Wolfram and Hart, obtaining some of Connor's blood and inserting it into Angel's food.

Despite his hard work and crafty planning, Angel remains undead and Holtz steals the boy to raise him as his own. Sahjhan settles for second best and sends Holtz and Connor to Quor'toth, a dimesion the portal to which can only be opened once.

In an effort to find his son, Angel performs a ritual to make Sahjhan corporeal again, however, on learning that a second portal cannot be opened and the truth about the prophecy, Angel becomes angry and the two demons fight, but before Sahjhan can plunge a stake into Angel's heart, Justine appears with an urn and draws Sahjhan into it, trapping him there.

Here Sahjhan stays for two years until the urn finds its way into the hands of an ancient sorcerer by the name of Cyvus Vail. Vail and Sahjhan have a history and Vail would very much like to see the prophecy of Sahjhan's death fulfilled. To this end he brings the now adult Connor and Sahjhan together, and, after a brief fight, Connor finds the part of himself that can kill demons and the prophecy is fulfilled.

Linwood Murrow

Having been appointed Head of Special Projects at Wolfram and Hart, Linwood sets about his task of keeping an eye on Angel Investigations and kidnapping Connor whilst playing employees Lilah Morgan and Gavin Park off against each other. Unfortunately he fails in all respects and loses head when Lilah goes above it (well just under it, actually) to the Senior Partners who aren't too happy with his performance.
